DANANG’S BUS RECORDED OVER 5 MILLION PASSENGERS IN 2017

DNB – According to Datramac’s annual report on bus operation, from January to December 2017, number of public transport passengers increased gradually every month, reached a total of more than 5 million at the end of the year.

Therein, number of passenger travelling by five subsidized bus lines including line 05 (Nguyen- -Tat-Thanh – Xuan-Dieu Bus Station), line 07 (Xuan-Dieu Bus Station – Southern Bus Station), line 08 (Hoa-Lu – Pham-Hung Bus Station), Line 11 (Xuan-Dieu Bus Station – Viet-Han College), line 12 (Tho-Quang – Bien-Dong Park) accounted for over 2 million turns.

With 61 vehicles in operation, subsidized buses made 17,000 which was equivalent to an average of 177,700 passenger journeys each month, pacifically increasing 16.5% from 3.6 passenger/trip (January) to 16.4 passengers/trip (November).

Among subsidized bus lines, line 05 Nguyen-Tat-Thanh – Xuan-Dieu Bus Station appeared to have highest bus passenger journeys with approximately 20,000 journeys every month. There are number of reasons why bus line 05 usage was the highest among all. The most significant reason was believed to be its bus route which passes through many residential areas, schools and hospitals..

Alongside subsidized bus lines, a large number of passenger journeys in Danang city center was also made by non-subsidized bus lines and other lines. Predominate line was line 04: Danang – Tam-Ky with roughly 1 million journeys. Other lines including TMF bus and Cocobay sightseeing city tour N1 and N2 were reported to make nearly 33,000 passenger journeys the second half of 2017.

Since the number of passengers chose to use public transport was increasing considerably and gradually within 2017, it seems that Danang public bus has addressed Danang passengers’ travelling demand to some extent.  Since six new subsidized bus lines are expected to introduced in the second half of 2018, public transport service is planned to enlarged implying that more and more people would be provided another choice of mean of transport for better accessibility to city center.
